Chronology of Experience

Roderick’s considerable experience is extracted from a career in which considerable time has been spent living and working internationally in the UAE, Qatar, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland and North America.

  • 2009 to present. After completing nine years of service with AECOM in the UAE, providing project controls support, analysing delay and disruption and authoring claims and claims defences, Roderick decided, in 2018, to establish his own consultancy practice in the name of Roderick Pearson and Associates. The practice has successfully provided claims support and expert services to local and international clients since then.
  • 2004 until 2009, he served as a project controls and claims consultant for ALSTOM Power  in their global head offices in Baden, Switzerland, providing, during this period, expert support to the Company's lawyers for arbitration proceedings in Geneva.  He also administered project planning and claims support on multiple of the Company's international EPC turnkey power plant projects, which included Fujairah II Power and Desalination Plant, which has a capacity of 2,000 MW of net power and 130 million gallons per day of net water; also power plant projects in Europe, India and Australia.
  • 1999 to 2004, he was responsible for Project Controls for ABB's US Turbine and Generator Group, based in Richmond Virginia, and then, after ABB’s merger with them, for ALSTOM Power. During this time Roderick was responsible for the in-country project planning and control function of 5,000 MW of EPC power plant construction at new plants across the U.S.A. Leading a team of office based project planning engineers and site based project schedulers, he ensured all required delay analysis and reporting was performed to support the company's several independent legal entities who were representing the Company in delay and performance related litigation proceedings.
  • 1993 until 1998 he served as Consortium Planning Manager for Klockner-Ina Gmbh on their EPC plant project for a PVC plant in southern Iran and later a large paper and board mill in Mazandaran, northern Iran. He lead teams of local planners on both these assignments.
  • 1991 through 1993, Roderick was commissioning planning engineer for ENRON Power Construction, on the Teesside Power Plant project. This project was for an 1,875 MW gas fired combined cycle, cogeneration, power plant, the largest such plant in the world at that time and still the largest ever built in Europe.
  • 1981 until 1990, Roderick served in Saudi Arabia as a project manager, project engineer, site engineer and planning engineer on building and civil engineering projects, including the Holiday Inn in Jeddah, Saudi British bank projects in Jeddah, Riyadh and Buraidah, King Fahad Hospital in Jeddah and the Swiss Consulate, also in Jeddah.
  • 1978, until 1981, after graduating he was employed as a junior planning engineer, cost and productivity controller by John Laing Construction, on several major projects in North West England, including large bus and truck testing centre for British Leyland, in Leyland, Lancashire, before taking up a position in Saudi Arabia through John Laing International.
