Brief Chronology of Experience

Roderick’s experience of the Middle East and international construction industry has been attained during a career which has spanned 45 years, in which considerable time has been spent working internationally in UAE, Qatar, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, North America and other locations.

In period 2018 through the present Roderick has provided expert services and claims support to a variety of parties in the construction, infrastructure, oil and gas and mining sectors in the Middle East and Africa.

In 2018, after completing nine years of service with AECOM in the Middle East, as an Associate Director for Delay, analysing delay and disruption and authoring claims and claims defences for such, he decided, in 2018, to establish his own consultancy practice in the name of Roderick Pearson and Associates. The practice has successfully provided claims support and expert services to multiple high profile clients in the region since then.

From 2004 until 2009, Roderick was a project controls and delay consultant for ALSTOM Power, based in their global head offices in Baden, Switzerland. During this period he provided expert support to the Company's lawyers for arbitration proceedings in Geneva. He also provided project planning and claims support on multiple of the Company's international EPC turnkey power plant projects. These included the Fujairah II Power and Desalination Plant, which has a capacity of 2,000 MW of net power and 130 million gallons per day of net water; also, projects in Europe, India and Australia.

Prior to this, from 1999 to 2004, he was responsible for Project Controls for ABB's US Turbine and Generator Group, based in Richmond Virginia, and then, after ABB’s merger with them, for ALSTOM Power. During this time Roderick was responsible for the in-country project planning and control function of some 5,000 MW of EPC power plant construction at new plants across the U.S.A. He led a team of office based project planning engineers and site based project schedulers. He also ensured that all required delay analysis and reporting was performed to support the company's several independent legal entities who were representing the Company in delay and performance related litigation proceedings.

From 1993 until 1998 he served as Consortium Planning Manager for Kloeckner-Ina Gmbh on their EPC process plant project for a PVC plant in southern Iran and later a large paper and board mill in Mazandaran, northern Iran.

In period 1991 through 1993, Roderick was commissioning planning engineer for ENRON Power Construction, on the Teesside Power Plant project. This project was for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of a 1,875 MW gas fired combined cycle, cogeneration, power plant, the largest such plant in the world at that time and still the largest ever built in Europe.

In the nine years from 1981 until 1990, Roderick served in Saudi Arabia as a project manager, project engineer, site engineer and planning engineer on building and civil engineering projects, including the Holiday Inn in Jeddah, Saudi British bank projects in Jeddah, Riyadh and Buraidah, King Fahad Hospital in Jeddah and the Swiss Consulate, also in Jeddah.

After graduation in 1978, until 1981, he was employed as an assistant planning, cost and productivity engineer by John Laing Construction, on several major North West England, including large bus and truck testing centre for British Leyland, in Leyland, Lancashire, before taking up a position in Saudi Arabia through John Laing International.
