Quantum and Contract Expert

Daniel Alcon is an expert in Quantum, Claims and Alternative Dispute Resolution (“ADR”). He has 40 years of experience, many of which have been gained in the Middle East. His areas of expertise include:

  • All forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution (“ADR”), including Adjudication, Arbitration, Expert Determination and Mediation;
  • Claim evaluation/risk analysis;
  • Contract and commercial support;
  • Disruption claim support;
  • Expert opinion on claims;
  • Expert witness;
  • Engineer’s Determinations; and,
  • Quantum and all other aspects of Quantity Surveying.

Daniel has also served as an Arbitrator, Adjudicator and has had multiple commissions as an Expert Witness. He has dealt with all aspects of claims, quantum, contract administration and other commercial support. 

He has also served as a Consultant, Regional Manager, Associate Director and Commercial and Contracts Advisor for several international companies in the region, including AECOM, Driver Trett, Sweett and Knowles Middle East.

Expert in multiple forms of construction contract including all formats of FIDIC, NEC, ICE, RIBA and JCT.

Daniel has experienced multiple project types in the civil, building, marine, process, power, oil, gas and transport sectors, including:

  • Airports (both civilian and military);
  • Beach Resorts;
  • Desalination Plants;
  • District Cooling;
  • Dredging and Land Reclamation (including the associated marine and top-side works for a major sea port);

  • Polyethelene Plants;
  • Power Stations;
  • Rail Terminal for Channel Tunnel;

  • Water Parks and Theme Parks.

Daniel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying and is a Fellow of both the RICS and CIArb. His other qualifications and professional affiliations include being a Fellow of the Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution Construction (FAIADR), a Fellow of the Institute of Construction Claims Practitioners (FICCP), a Corporate Panel Member of the Dispute Resolution Board in Geneva, and an Associate of the Malayisian Society of Adjudicators.

He is also the founder member of the FIDIC Contracts Group on LinkedIn, which has now in excess of 45,000 members.
