Many factors require consideration when assessing entitlement to time and cost in an extension of time claim and it should be noted that there are several important considerations for choosing an appropriate schedule analysis methodology. These include:

2. situational contexts, for example the amount and detail of the contemporaneous documentation available;
3. the duration that has elapsed since the claimed event(s) occurred - note such will influence whether a purely prospective approach is acceptable for analysis or whether it is more appropriate to consider contemporaneous as-built information, and an appropriate retrospective analysis;   
4. whether the dispute has crystalised;
5. agreed dispute resolution protocols;
6. whether or not the analysis is required to support a party's position in arbitration, adjudication or litigation;  and
7. the prevailing legal jurisdiction.
